Le Colombare

A name that tells a story.

The name Le Colombare is not a random choice; it is deeply rooted in the rural and architectural history of Breganze, a charming town at the foot of the Asiago plateau in Vicenza.

In the past, the Breganze area was dotted with numerous dovecotes, small structures – often on top of rural houses or in farmyards – used to raise domestic pigeons. These towers were a sign of wealth and prestige: they provided meat and guano (used as fertilizer) and symbolized agricultural self-sufficiency.

The pigeons, locally called Torresani, became part of the region's culinary tradition. Even today, restaurants in Breganze serve Torresano roasted on a spit as a traditional dish, carefully prepared according to recipes passed down through generations. It is a local specialty, celebrated in many food festivals.

Choosing the name Le Colombare evokes the memory of the territory, honors its traditions, and pays tribute to an authentic agricultural past, full of work, genuine flavors, and deep ties to the land.
